The museum's collection is housed in two different places: the south wing is devoted to art from the 16th to the 18th century, and the north wing focuses on the 19th and 20th centuries.

Modern museography highlights masterpieces from Delacroix to Picasso as well as numerous restored little-known sculptures. A visit to the museum with family or friends is an entertaining learning experience, and it is fascinating to see which school a picture belongs to.

Among other artists, the collection includes works by Brueghel, Chardin, Corot, Pierre de Cortone, Delacroix, Van Dyck, Van Goyen, Kokoschka, Le Pérugin, Magnasco, Matisse, Picasso, Renoir, Rubens, Véronèse, etc. – as well as works by all major Bordeaux artists such as André Lhote, Albert Marquet, and Odilon Redon. Dutch painting is especially well-represented, and visitors from the Netherlands are interested and delighted.

Free for less than 18 years old, disabled person and companion, and every first Sunday of the month (except in July and August).
