"Silent Visions" exhibition by Valérie Belin
24 April - 28 October
From 24 April to 28 October 2024, the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux is hosting an exhibition by Valérie Belin called Les Visions silencieuses (Silent Visions).
A contemporary artist
The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux regularly invites contemporary artists to take a look at its collections. In 2024, the museum plans to welcome the artist Valérie Belin as part of an exhibition organised in partnership with Galerie Nathalie Obadia, Paris/Brussels. This project follows on from the exhibitions devoted by the Musée des Beaux-Arts to women artists, from contemporary artist Suzanne Lafont in 2018 as part of the Garonne artistic commission, to Rosa Bonheur in 2022.
Iconic themes
Valérie Belin's many references to art history in her work, particularly through the iconic themes of still life, portraiture and the nude, make for a stimulating and original dialogue with the Bordeaux collections. The corpus of the exhibition will be made up of various series by the artist from the 1990s to the present day (Cars, Bodybuilders, Black Women, Mannequins, Fruit Baskets, Crowned Heads, Still Life, All Star, Black-Eyed Susan, China Girls, Painted Ladies, Super Models, Modern Royals, etc.), complemented by more recent series Heroes (2023).
