Château Maucaillou
Between Margaux and Saint-Julien, in Moulis en Médoc appellation, the entrance to Château Maucaillou is located on the square at Moulis train station.
The Château, a wedding gift from Monsieur Petit Laroche to his wife, is a fine example of the eclectic architecture that flourished in the Médoc at the end of the 19th century.
Since 1929, the Dourthe family has owned the estate.
Thanks to the privileges of its terroir and to the loving and passionate care given to winemaking, aging in barrels and bottling, the wines of Château MAUCAILLOU reach an exceptional class, which has nothing to envy to many Grands Crus Classés du Médoc. The terroirs which support the 90 hectares of vineyard of the "Domaines de MAUCAILLOU", are made up of beautiful ridges of Quaternary alluvium, largely coming from the gravelly Garonne layer of Güntz, which is at the origin of the Grands Crus Classés of the Médoc.
