Château Bernateau
In Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse, the Château Bernateau is a 20 hectares vineyard in the heart of Saint-Émilion terroir.
Family-run estate for 8 generations, producing organic wines, 5 minutes away from the medieval village of Saint-Emilion, by a nice drive in a UNESCO World Heritage classified scenery.
Located on one of the best terroirs of Saint-Emilion appellation, the Chateau Bernateau has belonged to the Lavau family for 8 generations. From the vine-growing to the wine-making, everything is made to favour the excellence of this Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, by mixing tradition and modernity. Our vat cellar renovated in 2016, with new wooden vats, allowing a wine-making using the natural gravity, which respects more the grapes, is an example of our constant search for improvment of the quality of our products.
In the respect of the environment, as proved by the organic growing certification obtained in 2012, the Chateau Bernateau expresses then in each vintage all the fineness, the elegance and the strength of the terroir.
Please come and enjoy a personnalised tour of the cellars, where you will learn the secrets of the crafting of our wines, from the vine-growing (organic) to the wine-making, the aging and the bottling.
At the end of the tour, you will taste several Saint-Emilion Grands Crus crafted by our family and be able to buy some, if you wish so.
