Bike ride through the urban vineyards - 29 kilometre route
Set off to explore some urban vineyards by bike! It’s best to anticipate a full day for this 29-kilometre circuit that begins at the Blanquefort train station: but worry not! Your efforts will be compensated… Indeed, this nice itinerary takes you to no less than six wine estates and a cooperage. As a break from pedalling, stop of for a tasting and meet wine producers from the Haut-Médoc.

Steps
Go down Rue de la Gare, turn right along the cycle path that leads to the roundabout, then turn left along the cycle path down Rue Jean Duvert. At the roundabout continue straight.
Cycle up the drive until the chateau and continue down the plane tree-lined driveway.
Next, take the first right onto Rue Michel de Montaigne and continue straight onto Rue du Queyron, then turn left onto Rue des Marnières in 500 metres.
After 600 metres turn right on Rue de Poujeau, then turn right again down Rue de Peybois. Continue straight onto Rue Edmond Blanc. Once you arrive on Avenue du Général, turn right, then take a left onto the cycle path down Rue de Saint-Ahon.
Take the first path on the right, then after 300m among the vines, turn left then right and cycle for 2 km down a path.
Pass Château Palouse on your right and turn left along the north bank of the water pool. After 300 m, turn left and follow the vines until reach the roundabout.
You’ll pass in front of La Tonnellerie Nadalié, continuer tout droit. Pass the railway immediately turn right down Rue Gasteau. After 600 metres, turn left onto Rue André Hertig. At the end of the road, turn right.
Continue onto Rue du Grand Communal. After 600 metres, turn left onto Rue du Grand Verger. After 1.5 km, turn left down Rue de Bizeaudun, then take Rue de l’Acacia de Ricard.
Go past the gateway to the estate, then turn left onto Avenue du 11 novembre, cycle for 1.4 km.
Next, cycle down Rue Maurice Fillon for 1 km, at the roundabout go straight down Rue de Bordeaux.
Cycle by the 2 gravel quarries until Rue de Gare, turn left. Take Rue de la Gare then Rue Bel Air. After 1.5 km, cross Avenue du Général de Gaulle and then take Rue de Peybois on your left. Continue straight until you reach Rue Edmond Blanc then go straight down that road. Once you arrive at Avenue du Général, turn right, then left to take the cycle path down Rue de Saint-Ahon.
Go straight down Avenue du 11 novembre until the roundabout, continue straight down the cycle path on Avenue du 11 novembre.

Château Dillon is a starting point for the famous Médoc wine route! This estate is close to Bordeaux and is attached to the Lycée Viticole de Blanquefort. Dillon is a certified AREA and HVE 3 estate, attesting to the vineyard’s environmentally-friendly practices. You can take a tour of the estate (booking required) and visit their boutique, where they sell wines produced at the property and gourmet products from the agricultural schools of Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

Alice de Courcel, from the 3rd generation to have worked on the estate, welcomes you to this beautiful 14th-century building which was destroyed in 1789 and re-built in 1875. The little boutique looking out onto the road that passes in front sells the property’s full range of wines and deli products.

20 minutes away from Bordeaux, this wine-producing property is one of the oldest in the Médoc, and looks like the castle from Sleeping Beauty; it is a listed historical monument.
