The Bordeaux Christmas Market
Every year, the Bordeaux Christmas market comes to the Allées de Tourny in the city centre for the holiday season. This is the ideal setting for a family outing to enjoy all the festive cheer! You’ll find a host of colourful (and flavoursome) gift ideas among the local arts, crafts and delicacies. Ready to experience Christmas Bordeaux-style?
Market dates & times
- To come in December
- From 11am to 9pm.
Over a hundred exhibitors, craftsmen and retailers
This year, over a hundred stallholders will be setting up in the market's small wooden chalets. These artisans and traders are offering a host of original gift ideas. From scented candles to Christmas decorations and local produce, you're sure to find something to decorate your home, your festive tables or your loved ones!
Activities for children and workshops
Until 27th December, families can enjoy a whole line-up of entertainment and festive rides on a stroll through the market on Allées de Tourny! Carol singers, acrobats, stilt walkers and even elves will be performing beside the timber chalets to make your Christmas in Bordeaux a truly unforgettable experience. There will be workshops for children and grown-ups to enjoy:
- Chalet “des cerfs animés”
- Gift-wrapping classes
- Kids’ face painting with entertainment
- Eco-friendly Christmas decoration-making
- Photos with Santa Clauss
And your kids will love the illuminated merry-go-round opposite the Grand Théâtre!
Food and drink at the market
For foodies, a delicious selection of food and drinks will also be in the spotlight! Choose your stall for a gourmet pit stop to try some aligot (cheesy mashed potato), flammekueche, roasted chestnuts or giant pretzels, known as bretzels. Then warm yourselves up with a comforting hot chocolate or traditional mulled wine, in moderation of course!
Most of the refreshments available are locally sourced. Vegetarians will also find options to enjoy at all refreshment stalls.
